Meet Ludwig! 🐾
Ludwig is a sweet but shy guy looking for a loving home! 🏡 He can be a little wary of new dogs and situations, but with patience and understanding, he?s sure to thrive. Here?s what you need to know about him:
🐕 About Ludwig:
Ludwig is a bit nervous when meeting new friends, especially other dogs. He?ll need a calm, patient environment where he can feel safe and loved. 💖
When meeting new dogs, he?s cautious, but he?s willing to open up with time and trust. 🐶👀
He?s not yet into playing with other dogs, but he enjoys the company of some, just at his own pace. 🐾
Ludwig can be a bit protective and defensive at first, but he?s learning to relax around other dogs. 🦴
🌟 Ludwig?s Ideal Home:
A quiet home with a loving family who can help him adjust and feel at ease. 🏠
Ludwig would do best in a home with no high-energy dogs, or with one or two calm, respectful dog friends. 🐕🐕
💙 Why Ludwig Needs You:
He?s looking for a family who can help him continue his journey of growth and trust. With your care and patience, he?ll be a loyal, loving companion. 💖
Ludwig is a gentle soul who just needs the right environment to thrive. 🐾✨

ASSESSMENT
DOWNEY

Ludwig was on the backside of the kennel when the runner arrived. He was curled up with a tense body, tail tucked, a
concerned gaze, closed mouth, and ears back. He stood up when he noticed the runner open the kennel door. The runner was
able to leash him with ease, but he hesitated to exit, so moderate leash pressure was applied to retrieve him from the kennel.
Ludwig began to walk when the runner began to coax him. He gave some of the dogs a low growl as he passed by the other
kenneled dogs. At the catch pen, Ludwig stood wary of the dogs at the barrier. He gave them a hard stared and a low growl.
Before he was allowed to enter the yard, the runner slowly placed the collar around his neck with no issue. After he entered
the yard, he responded in a defensive manner at the dogs that came forward to greet him. He growled and flashed his teeth at
them. As time went on, Ludwig became less defensive, allowing some of the dogs to sniff him, though he still seemed
uncomfortable. For the remainder time, Ludwig tolerated the dogs in the yard but preferred not to engage with any of them.
Before he was returned to his kennel, he was shifted to the side yard to begin his handling assessment. Ludwig has no play
style at this time, therefore, setting him in a yard with a small group of dogs can be beneficial for him.

HANDLING ASSESSMENT
DOWNEY
A5683875
Ludwig was given alone time to decompress before the assessment began. He allowed the handler to conduct a full
examination but remained uncomfortable throughout the session. His ears, mouth, stomach, tail, and all paws were fully
examined. His body remained tense, with a low tail, concerned gaze, closed mouth, and occasional lip licking. He did not
relax and remained uncomfortable until the end of the session. Once the assessment was concluded, he was returned to his
kennel. Ludwig requires a slow approach when handling as he lacks the confidence around people. A calm environment is
highly advised, therefore a home with adults only is required.
