Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. She would not walk to the play yard and appearedto not be leash trained. She was tolerant of the runner picking her up and canying her to the play yard. She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time. She remained tolerant of them sniffing her, but she had concemed eyes. She then went and sat by one of the perimeter fences. She began to give show of teeth wamings for space to all dogs that approached her, while she remained sitting. After some time, she began to relax a little and started to become more tolerant of dogs that approached her calmly and slowly. She needs continued socialization around other dogs for her to gain more confidence and be less defensive. She would do best with a very calm dog that would respect her space and boundanes, to allow her to achieve this.
