The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. He walked to the catch pen with a moderate pull on the leash. The runner easily clasped the collar around his neck. He entered the play yard with a soft body. He was greeted by a male shepherd. He had a neutral tail, and his hackles raised. He walked away and was greeted by a female Doberman. He exchanged soft greetings with her. The female Doberman offered him a play bow and pawed at his side trying to entice him to play. He started to tap his feet but did not fully break out to play with her. He roamed the yard and explored his surroundings. He approached the handlers and solicited affection. Rango is social with other dogs and has no play style at this time. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY

Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. He was taken to the catch pen after play group for his assessment. He was given a few moments to acclimate to his surroundings. The handler slowly approached him, and he flinched. He allowed the handler to check his ears and teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail but pulled it away. He allowed the handler to touch and hold his front and back paws, but he had a tense body, froze and started licking his lips. After his handling assessment he was returned to his kennel without issue. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY
