\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog'sbehaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" He walked to the play yard behind the runner and required some verbal coaxing along the way. He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a calm female shepherd. He remained tolerant of her sniffing him, but he did not retum the greeting. He was then approached by a male shepherd and displayed the same behavior. He began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to tolerate dogs approaching him and sniffing him, but he did not retum the greetings. He remained calm and tolerant for the rest of his time in the yard, but he was more comfortable around the calm dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not join in or try to entice any play. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. Tarzah is tolerant with the other dogs and would do best with a calm dog.
