The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar suro undings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and ife expenences.
He was wary of the runner initially in kennel but approached with coaxing. He walked behind the runner requiring light coaxing to continue walking. He entered the yard with a tucked tail and low head, wary of the other dogs. He ran up to a handler with a loose body and soft eyes to seek affection. He spent a fewmoments calmly roaming and did not appear interested in the other dogs. Eventually a male shepherd came up to greet him. Batman stretched his body to sniff the shepherd but did not fully commit to the greeting. He resumed roaming the perimeter, keeping to himself. He began to relax and exchanged good greetings with other calm dogs. He was not interested in interacting with energetic or playful dogs and kept his distance. He preferred to linger near the handlers and receive affection. He would flinch lightly if a handler touched hm without his knowledge but displayed no other negative behavior with the handlers. He needs continued socialization and confidence building. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REC), CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY

He had soft eyes and a loose body as the handler kneeled next to him. He lightly flinched if he wasn't aware the handler was about to touch him but displayed no negative behavior. The handler looked into his ears, viewed his teeth, held his tail and held his paws without any negative reaction. He sat down next to the handler soliciting affection during the handling assessment.
