Eval Comments:
The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out-or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
She was wary on leash, requinng lots of coaxing to walk. When she did walk it was slowly and behind the runner. He eventually picked her up and cared her without issue to the catch pen. She trembled while licking her lips as several dogs came up to the fence to greet her. She continued trembling as the handlers backed the dogs away and the runner reassured her while clasping the collar around her neck. She slowly entered the yard, tolerating a few dogs coming up to her calmly.
She spent a few minutes sitting by the gate, watching the other dogs. She was relaxed with one of the handlers, sniffing and licking her hand but was wary of the other handler, walking away from him. She eventually roamed the yard calmly, keeping to herself. She was tolerant of other calm dogs approaching her and exchanging brief greetings. She kept her distance fom playful dogs as she roamed. Amale shepherd enticed her for play and placed his paw on her back. She yelped, growled and snapped at him as a waming for space. The waming was respected. She kept to herself for the rest of her time in the yard.
She needs continued socialization and confidence building. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY

The handler kneeled next to her and spent a few moment coaxing and reassunng her. She was tense with concemed eyes as the handler looked in her ears and viewed her teeth. She pressed her paws down as the handler struggle to lift each of them up. She tucked her tail and squatted her back end as the handler touched her tail. She needs further socialization and a go-slow approach with trust building. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
