He timidly entered the play yard, tucking his tail with concerned eyes as a young, male shepherd came up to greet him. He tolerated a brief exchange before walking away. He then approached a handler, lightly jumping on her while soliciting affection. He spent several minutes wandering the perimeter of the yard, keeping to himself. He appeared to relax as time passed. He exchanged good greetings with other calm dogs while roaming. He was surrounded by several dogs at one point and remained loose, exchanging good, calm greetings. As the other dogs became playful, he walked over to a bench and jumped on it to create space from them. He watched for several minutes. A playful male boxer came up enticing him for play. Max was not comfortable with the energy, growling and exposing his teeth, to warn the boxer. The warning was respected and the boxer walked away. He remained tolerant of calm dogs approaching him. He did not display any play style. He needs continued socialization and basic manners training. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
