A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time. She tolerated them both sniffing her, but she was timid with a low tail wag and did not retum the greetings. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. After a short time, she appeared to gain more confidence and began to exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. She remained social with all the dogs for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage or entice any play. She would approach the handlers often and seek affection. Leah is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time.
