Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
She entered the yard with a low crawl, requiring coaxing from the runner to enter. She was insecure and pancaked on the ground in front of the gate. She whined while lying in front of the gate each time a dog walked by her. She was tolerant of the other dogs coming up to greet her but would not stand up, briefly sniffing them while she was pancaked. She had a puppy-like demeanor as a handler kneeled next to her and gave her affection. She began crawling around the yard and lightly whining. She would approach the other dogs as she crawled, greeting them and rolling on her back while whining if the other dogs were assertive with their greetings. She never stood up and walked with the other dogs and would only crawl up to them. She appeared to gain confidence as time passed and stopped whining and rolling on her back when the other dogs approached. She needs further socialization and confidence bulding. She was puppy-like and frendly with the handlers the entire time she was in the yard. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REC), LOW ENERGY
