?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.?
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He became barrier reactive toward dogs through the fence, growling and barking. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a female Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He approached a male Pitbull and immediately became tense. He had a high stiff tail, body in a forward posture and then began to neck press the male dog. He then attempted to mount the male Pitbull and began to growl. A handler was able to break his focus with the sound of a shaker can and moved him away on leash. The male Pitbull was placed into a side pen for the time being, to continue assessing Zeta?s behavior. He then remained loose and social with the female Pitbull. He would break focus from her on his own accord and explore the yard by himself. He remained relaxed and social with her for the rest of his time in the yard. He would approach the handlers often and seek affection. Due to his behavior toward the male dog in the yard and aggression displayed toward a male dog in the previous home, he will be designated as female dogs only required. Due to his issues in the previous home with other animals, he will require a known history of aggression disclosure form.
