Eval Comments:
\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on suroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a male Rottweiler mix. He tolerated him sniffing him, but he was timid. He was then approached by a calm female Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He began to relax more and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. As time went on, he began to grow in confidence and engaged in some gentle/ dainty play with a male Rottweiler mix. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared to have better interactions with the calmer dogs. He did mount a male Rottweiler mix a few times during his time in the yard, but he was easily steered by the handlers. He would approach the handlers often and seek affection. Brutus is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style, but he would likely do best with a calmer dog.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. He was given a moment to acclimate to his surroundings. The handler knelt and called to him. He approached the handler with soft body language and began seeking affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. After the handling, he continued to seek affection. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling, but he does slightly flinch if he is pet when not expecting it. He was retumed to his kennel without issue.
