Buba appeared tense/fearful growling and barking defensively at the runner. With time, coaxing, and a slow approach the
runner was able to leash/remove Buba from the kennel. Buba was taken to the catch pen and was collared/leashed using a
slow approach. Buba greeted the dogs at the barrier with a tense demeanor and was guided into the play yard. Buba
displayed a tense body, closed mouth, ears back, high tense tail, and wide eyes with dilated pupils. Buba approached the
dogs with a tense demeanor appearing to challenge the dogs. He was steered by the handlers, but he continued to exchange
tense greetings. He appeared interested in the other dogs but remained tense with very forward greetings. After some time
Buba appeared to acclimate to the play yard. He appeared interested in the females and attempted to mount and was easy to
steer. Buba continued to roam and socialize at times approaching the handlers. Little by little Buba began to interact more
with the handlers allowing petting. Buba was able to co-exist in the play yard displaying no play style at this time. Buba
could benefit from a slow and patient introduction/further socialization/confidence building. See additional assessment for
placement recommendations.

Buba was in the play yard prior to the assessment and was given time to decompress. Buba displayed a neutral body, open
mouth pant, natural ear set, neutral tail position, and wide eyes with a neutral gaze. The handler called Buba over and he
approached sniffing the handler and allowing them to pet him. The handler was able to examine Buba?s ears, mouth, back,
and tail. When palpating Buba?s abdomen/side he became tense and gave the handler a hard stare. Using the assessment
hand the handler was able to examine Buba?s abdomen and lower extremities. Buba was tense and uncomfortable at times
lip curling but did not escalate. Buba could benefit from a slow and patient introduction, continued socialization, and
confidence building. Buba is recommended to be made available to rescue only medium energy level calm dogs
recommended.

Buba was at the rear of the kennel with a tense demeanor and scurried to the other end of the kennel run. The runner closed
the divider and approached Buba again, but he remained tense and would not approach. Buba displayed a tense body/hackle
raised, ears back, teeth flash/growl, tucked tail, and wide eyes. The runner partially stepped into the kennel and leashed
Buba. In the initial attempts Buba snapped/bit the leash and remained avoidant. Once leashed he began to flail/pull
away/defecate/bite the leash. Buba would not settle and could not be safely removed from the kennel. The runner used a
safety hook to remove the leash loop, but Buba bit the pole in the attempts. Buba will be attempted again at a later date.
