dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was extremely defensive when trying to be handled in the catch pen or trying to put the collar on her. She attempted to bite the handler multiple times, even when rope muzzled. For safety she was brought into the yard on a slip leash to gauge how she was with other dogs. She was wary with concerned eyes and a tucked tail, creating space from the other dogs. She was a little more tolerant of dogs approaching very calmly and allowed them to sniff her, but she still had concered eyes.
She maintained this behavior for her time in the yard. She will need a very calm dog that will respect her space and boundaries, to allow her to gain more confidence. Due to her defensive behavior with handling her sensitivity and her lack of socialization, she will be designated as rescue only. She will need much more socialization and training.
