?\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was wary and required a very go slow approach being collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She initially ignored the other dogs and began to explore the yard. After a while, she approached a female terrier and sniffed her from behind. She then went back to exploring the yard. She mostly kept to herself for the rest of her time in the yard, but she would occasionally approach other dogs and exchange a timid greeting. At one point, she approached closer to a handler's leg and sniffed them. When the handler attempted to pet her, she gave an air snap waming.
She remained calm and social around the dogs for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calm dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. Delilah is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog. She mostly kept her distance from the handlers in the yard. Toward the end of her time in the yard, a handler walked near to her to place a collar on the fence. Delilah then began to defensively growl and focused on the handler. The handler slowly moved away from her and she stopped growling. See handling assessment section for rescue only stipulation explanation.

She was extremely wary and would not allow the handler to get close to touch any area of her. She wanted to remain facing the handler at all times. Due to her defensive behavior with handlers in the play yard and her behavior in the catch pen during handling, she will be designated as rescue only. She will need much more socialization and training,
