Gracie is a gentle soul who was surrendered due to responsibility issues beyond her control. On intake, she was understandably tense and displayed fearful behaviors, but with time and space she has shown improvement. Gracie appears healthy overall, with developed mammary glands noted, and she has been able to peacefully coexist with other dogs, preferring to keep to herself. She is fearful and nervous by nature, and for this reason will be available for rescue adoption only, with a bite disclosure form and KHOA form required. Gracie deserves a safe, loving home with an experienced and patient owner who understands canine body language and is willing to go at her pace. With compassion, consistency, and understanding, Gracie has the potential to thrive in the right environment 🐶💙

Gracie A5743332 (Intact) was at the rear of the kennel growling defensively upon the runner?s arrival. She slowly
approached with a trembling, tense body posture, though she continued growling. As a precaution, the runner was able to
leash Gracie by tossing it from a distance while she stood still with a fearful demeanor. Once leashed, Gracie slowly exited
the kennel with some coaxing and then proceeded to walk ahead of the runner with a moderate pull on the leash. She
appeared nervous, pulling away from the runner as she bypassed her neighbors. Inside the catch pen, she was cautiously
collared and leashed as she appeared very uncomfortable, causing a low growl to resonate through the leash during the
process. Once inside the yard, Gracie exchanged greetings with the dogs, displaying a neutral body posture. Following the
introduction, she moved on to explore the environment. Gracie continued roaming the yard, uninterested in engaging in play
with the other dogs. She curiously approached and sniffed the handlers, allowing herself to be gently petted. For the rest of
the session, Gracie coexisted peacefully with the other dogs, preferring to keep to herself. Once the session concluded, she
was moved to the side yard to begin her handling assessment. Due to Gracie?s previously recorded offensive behavior, she is
currently unavailable for public adoption.

Gracie A5743332 (Intact) was allowed to decompress prior to the assessment. The handler was unable to safely complete a
full evaluation due to Gracie?s high level of discomfort during the process. Gracie constantly turned to observe the handler
with a concerned gaze, occasionally licking her lips or closing her mouth when showing signs of discomfort. The handler
managed to cautiously examine Gracie?s ears, mouth, stomach, tail, and hind legs; however, an Assess-a-Hand tool was used
to handle her front legs due to her body language displaying stress. She was unresponsive to the tool, only sniffing it, though
her body remained tense, with a low tail, a concerned gaze, a closed mouth, and ears slightly back. To prevent further stress,
the session concluded and Gracie was returned to her kennel without issue.

On approach, she was at the back of the kennel (trembling/shaking) and would not come forward. A lot of lip licking,
lowered head. I went around to the other side and same behavior continued. I opened the kennel door and she would not
approach, she continued lip licking, avoiding direct eye contact and lowering her head. I left and returned with a squeaky toy
to see if she would show interest-same behavior. I was unable to step into the kennel (kennel door would not open wide
enough for me). But I could place my leash on/under her neck and with any pressure (without closing the loop) she would
not move. So I removed my leash and concluded the assessment.
Currently available to rescue due to behavior in the prior home and behavior displayed at the care center.
