Eval Comments: \"The behaviors described to day reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was defensive in the kennel and would air snap at the leash, when trying to loop leash him. After a few attempts the handler was able to loop leash him. He was not leash trained and began falling and snapping. The handler knelt and beganto verbally reassure him and coax him, but he would not approach. He remained in the comer with concemed eyes. The handler got a little closer and gauged his reaction to being pet. He the defensively snapped toward the handler. The handler was not able to safely rope muzzle him, due to his defensive behavior. The assessment was ended at this point to prevent any further
stress and for handler safety. Due to his lack of socialization and defensive behavior, he will be designated as rescue only.
