\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was not leash trained and had to be canied to the yard. She was taken to a side yard for the handling assessment. She was given a moment to acclimate to her surroundings. The handler knelt and called to her, but she didnot approach The handler slowly approached her, and she had concemed eyes with a tucked tail She allowed the handler to pet her head with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch and hold her front paws with no reaction. When the handler touched her tail or rear paws, she would sit down. She displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling, but she needs a go-slow approach. She was retumed to her kennel without issue. Due to some handling sensitivity and requiring more socialization, she would need to be in an adult only home.
