A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time. She became very tense, with wide eyes and hackles raised. She then gave a hard snap to a female shepherd that was near her face. The female shepherd yelp and ran away to create space. Elfie then began to roam the yard to herself to explore. She was approached playfully by a female Pitbull. Elfie growled, lunged, and bit the Pitbull's face. She held the bite for a couple of seconds before the Pitbull pulled back and was able to get free. The female Pitbull was checked and just had a minor abrasion on the side of her face. Elfie then continued to calmly keep to herself. She was removed from the yard a short time after this. She would approach the handlers often and seek affection. Due to her overly defensive behavior, she will be designated as no other dogs required.
