?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.?
He walked with a moderate pull on the leash to the catch pen. In the catch pen, he was focused and would freeze and forward posture at the other dogs through the play yard fence. The runner spent a few minutes trying to build trust with him I the catch pen. The runner slowly approached him to place the collar on. He was tense, licking his lips and freezing. After a few minutes, the runner was slowly able to clasp the collar around his neck. He was walked in on a long, loose leash. He was walked up to a male Malinois. He had a tense body with a high stiff tail and hackles raised. He was focused and tracking him. He started growling and jumped on his back. The handler pulled him off by his leash. He continued to growl and tried to lunge at him again. The handler walked him out of the play yard. He remained focus on the other dogs through the play yard fence. The handler slowly approached him to take off the collar. He was wary and was side eyeing the handler while licking his lips with a tense body. A handler on the other side of the fence distracted him as the handler unclasped the collar. Due to his behavior in the yard and to previous situations outside of the care center, he will be designated as rescue only. RESCUE ONLY WITH BITE DISCLOSURE AND KNOWN HISTORY OF AGGRESSION DISLOSURE, NO OTHER DOGS (REQUIRED), MEDIUM ENERGY
