_ The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out-or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
He was wary of the runner, lowering his head with concemed eyes as she tried clasping it around his neck. He did relax slightly as she spent a few moments coaxing him. He had soft eyes and a neutral tail wag while greeting several dogs througk the play yard fence. He calmly entered the yard and exchanged several good greetings with the other dogs. He was initially wary of a few playful dogs, especially when they lingered near his face. He would simply tum his head away of walk away when they became too much. He spent a few minutes calmly roaming the yard and did not seem bothered by a few trailing alongside him as they sniffed his body. He appeared to relax and became much looser around the other dogs as time passed He was no longer wary of the playful dogs and roamed the yard with them. He briefly appeared to be interested in play with a male shepherd. He tapped his paws and play bowed but full play did not erupt. He approached a male husky and repeated his playful behavior but was unsuccessful in his attempts for play. He approached the handlers on several occasions to solicit affection, leaning against their legs with soft eyes and an open mouth pant. He remained social and friendly for the rest of his time in the yard. He needs a short acclimation period to become comfortable around new dogs and could use some confidence building.
