- The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out-or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
He had a loose body and neutral tal wag as the collar was easily clasped around his neck. He was wary with concemed eyes and a high tail as several dogs came up to the fence to greet him. He calmly entered the yard and began explong the penmeter. He was tense but tolerated several dogs coming up to greet him. He exchanged bnef greetings with the other calm dogs but tumed to avoid playful dogs that approached. He spent quite a while calmly roaming the yard, keeping to himself.
He continued to tolerate and exchange brief greetings with calm dogs and would change direction if approached by any playful dogs. As time passed, he began to relax and approached other dogs, engaging them in soft greetings. He was much more tolerant of playful dogs but only lingered near them briefly. He solicited affection from the handlers on numerous occasions with soft eyes while leaning against them and licking their hands. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
