?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change
based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.?
Todo greeted the runner with a wiggly body, soft eyes, an open pant, and a loose tail wag. He jumped up and down
excitedly, and solicited petting from the runner. He was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, pulled strongly on leash
while bypassing the other kennels, and was easy to collar while soliciting petting. He greeted the other dogs at the fence with
a relaxed body, soft eyes, and a loose tail wag. He raced into the yard, and immediately engaged in play with the other dogs.
He solicited petting from the handlers. He had a high energy level, and required some steering to play appropriately with
some of the calm dogs in the yard. He eventually began to take breaks when necessary. He continued to jump on the handler
roughly to solicit petting, but was easy to steer. Todo is social with the other dogs, has a high energy level, and prefers a
push/pull playstyle.

Todo was already in the yard when the handler decided to begin the handling assessment. He was moved to the side yard,
and given a few moments to decompress before the handler entered the yard. He allowed the handler to pet his whole body
while remaining relaxed and wiggly. He pulled his feet away, but allowed the handler to touch his paws on the second pass
while remaining relaxed. He accepted a hug, and licked the handler?s face. He was easy to handle, and did not display any
concerning behavior during the handling assessment.
