🐶 Meet Betty! 💖
Betty is a sweet, affectionate girl with a medium energy level who loves being close to her people. 🥰 She walks nicely on leash, enjoys greeting friendly humans with a soft wag, and happily soaks up pets?often becoming relaxed, wiggly, and even playful once she feels comfortable. Betty can feel a bit overwhelmed around groups of dogs and may prefer calmer introductions or a more peaceful environment. 🌸 With people, though, she shines?leaning in for attention, accepting hugs, and showing her loving personality. Betty would thrive in a patient home where she can feel safe, loved, and supported. 🏡🐾

?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change
based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.?
Betty was at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body, dilated pupils, and a soft tail wag. She was easy to leash and remove
from the kennel, walked nicely on leash while bypassing the other kennels, stopped to greet people with a soft tail wag, and
was easy to collar. In the catch pen, her body was neutral with a low tail. She entered the yard with a tense body, wide eyes
with dilated pupils, ears back, and a tucked tail. She defensively snapped at the other dogs when they greeted her, and stayed
close to the handlers. She eventually engaged in play with a gentle male, but became overwhelmed when other dogs tried to
join them. She briefly roamed the yard, but returned to the handler?s side after a few minutes. She solicited petting from the
handlers. Betty is defensive with the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time.

Betty was already in the yard when the handler decided to begin the handling assessment. She was moved to the side yard,
and given a few moments to decompress before the handler entered the yard. She approached the handler with a neutral
body, soft eyes, and a neutral tail wag. She allowed the handler to pet her whole body with no issues, and became relaxed
and wiggly. She accepted a hug, and engaged in play with the handler. She was easy to handle, and did not display any
concerning behavior during the handling assessment.
