A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with concemed eyes and a tucked tail. He was approached by a calm male Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He was then approached by a different male Pitbull that was higher in energy. The male Pitbull became playful and lingered in his face. Alpha gave a show of teeth waming and then gave multiple consecutive air snaps, while stepping forward. This was respected and the male pitbull walked away. He then exchanged a soft greeting with a calm female Pitbull. He began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard but he still appeared uncomfortable around the higher energy dogs or dogs lingering in his face. He would approach the handlers and seek: affection. He would do best with a calm dog that would respect his space and boundaries.
