A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may ditter significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the yard with concemed eyes and a low tail. He was approached by a female Pitbull. He tolerated her sniffing him, but he did not retum the greeting. He was then approached by a male Pitbull and displayed the same behavior. He brefly roamed the yard to explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He began to approach the calmer dogs and exchange timid greetings with them. He mostly kept to one small area of the yard, for the rest of his time in the play group. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He sought affection a few times from a handler in the yard, but he needed a go-slow approach. Socks is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time. The handler knelt and called to him, but he did not approach. The handler approached him slowly and picked up his leash. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling, but he is timid and requires a go-slow approach. He would do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
