A dogs behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He became bamer reactive toward dogs though the fence, growling at them. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a calm female Pitbull. He became very tense / with a high tail, hackles raised and forward body posture. He then began to hover his muzzle over the back of her neck, while maintaining tense and challenging body language. Ahandler was able to break is focus using a spray bottle and the female Pitbull walked away to create space from him. He was the approached by a female Doberman. He again became tense with the same body language as before. The female Doberman began to playfully tap her front paws. He then growled and lunged toward her, trying to bite. The female Doberman was able to evade him. He attempted to continue pursuing her, while growling. Ahandler used the sound of pet corrector to temporanly break his focus, and another handler pulled him away by his leash. He was then removed from the yard at this time, due to his offensive behavior. While he was being removed from the yard, he continued to pull hard back toward the other dog, trying to get back to her, while growling. Due to his unprovoked offensive behavior, he will need to be an only dog in the home.
