A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." She required a go-slow approach when being collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs and tolerated them sniffing her, but she was wary. When they lingered near her face, she gave a show of teeth waming for space. They respected the waming and walked away. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She was approached in a fast manner by a male cattle dog, and she gave a show of teeth waming. When he continued to linger near her face, she gave an air snap. He respected this and walked away. She was more tolerant of the very calm dogs. She would approach the handlers, but she required a go-slow approach. She would do best with a very calm dog that would respect her space and boundaries E26-093141 Animal ID: A5773557 Eval Type: HANDLING Eval Location: LANCASTR Eval Date: 05/04/2026 Review Date: Play Style: Sociability: SELECTIVE Reactive: NON REACTIVE Ken Handling: FEARFUL/FROZEN Kids: ADULTS ONLY (REO) Large Dogs: CALM DOGS (REQ) Small Dogs: NEEDS ASSESSMENT Energy Level: MEDIUM Training: CONFIDENCE BUILDING Eval Comments: - "The behaviors described to day reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. The handler knelt and called to her and she slowly approached. She allowed the handler to pet her head with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch all her paws with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch her tail with no reaction. Although she allowed all areas to be handled, she is wary of faster movements. She displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but she is timid and needs a go-slow approach. She was retumed to her kennel without issue. Due to her need for a go-slow approach and confidence bulding, she would do best in an adult only home.
