The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may
change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
Blue A5772828 (Intact) was allowed to decompress prior to the assessment. Firm control was required to keep him still as he
repeatedly pulled away. Once settled, the handler was able to examine Blue's ears, mouth, abdomen, tail, and legs without
issue. He displayed a neutral body posture, with an open-mouth pant, a natural ear set, allow tail, and a neutral gaze. Blue
remained in the yard to proceed with his resource guarding assessment. Blue showed no concerning behavior during the
assessment; however, slow introductions are recommended to allow him to become comfortable with people.

Blue A5772828 (Intact) observed calmly as a bowl of food was placed down, approaching to sniff it without eating. The
handler proceeded to slowly introduce an Assess-a-Hand tool, allowing him to sniff it before placing it over the bowl. Blue
appeared unbothered as the tool touched the food or moved the bowl away from him. A toy was also introduced, but Blue
continued to show no interest, presenting a neutral posture, with a natural ear set, an open-mouth pant, a neutral gaze, and a
low tail throughout the process. Even though Blue showed no concerning behavior during the assessment, it is important to
monitor for resource guarding behavior during feeding.

A5772828/BLUE'S Behavior Assessments
The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may
change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
Blue A5772828 (Intact) was mid-kennel with a nervous demeanor upon arrival. The runner was required to partially step
into the kennel as Blue was reluctant to approach. Once leashed, he exited the kennel on his own and then proceeded to
make his way to the catch pen with a moderate pull on the leash, bypassing his neighboring kennels. Inside the catch pen, he
stood calmly during collar and leash placement prior to entering the yard. Once inside, Blue began to explore the
environment, ignoring the dogs that came forward to greet him. He initially roamed the yard with a tense posture, but as he
became acclimated, his posture softened. Blue eventually began to show some interest in the other dogs, approaching them
to sniff but not engaging in play with them. A scuffle occurred after Blue became triggered by one of the dogs that was
zooming around the yard, forcing the session to end early. He chased, cornered, and pinned the other dog, while attempting
to take bites, but he was quickly deterred by the handlers' corrections. He was immediately separated from the group to
avoid further escalations. Due to his offensive behavior, Blue may benefit from a home without other dogs. Impulse-control
training is highly recommended.
