Eval Comments:
"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a female Pitbull and tolerated her sniffingher, but she did not retum the greeting at this time. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. After exploring the yard, she began to approach other dogs and exchange soft greetings with them. She gave an appropriate air snap correction to a male cattle dog mix that mounted her. She remained calm and social for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play.
She would approach the handlers and seek affection. She is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog.
