Eval Comments:
"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences."
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a male Pitbull. He greeted him with a high curved stiff tail and was very tense. He wasthen approached by a female shepherd and displayed the same tense behavior. He began to roam the yard and explore. He continued to become tense with a high curved stiff tall when other dogs approached him. A short time later, a male Pitbull playfully bounded past him. He became tense with a high tail; hackles raised and began grunting. Shortly after this, a female shepherd began to playfully run around the yard. He became aroused by this, focused on her and began chasing her, while growling. When he caught up to her, he growled and lunged at her with an open mouth. Ahandler used the sound of an air hom to break his focus and was then able to grab his leash. He was removed from the yard at this time. Due to his tense behavior around the other dogs and his arousal issue displayed, he would likely do best as the only dog in the home.
