A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a male husky and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He then began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to calmly roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with other dogs, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He would approach the handlers andreceived affection, but he can be head shy and does best with a slower approach. Rocky is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog. See handling assessment for further stipulations. The handler knelt and called to him. He approached with soft body language. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch all his paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail with no reaction. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but he can be head shy and does best with a slower approach. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. Due to his need for a slower approach, he would do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
