Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out' or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
She was wary of the runner placing the collar around her neck with concerned eyes and ears back. She timidly stretched her body to sniff a few dogs through the fence. Once in the yard, she calmly greeted each dog with a tucked tail and ears back, appearingto lack confidence. She slowly explored the perimeter, avoiding the other dogs as she kept to herself. She was tolerant of other dogs coming up to greet her, facing away if they were too energetic. She was wary of the handlers at first and would scoot away. As time passed, she became more comfortable around them and allowed them to approach and give her head and body rubs. She was enticed for play on a few occasions but declined each attempt. As time passed, she appeared to relax with the other dogs, exchanging good greetings. She appears unsocialized and lacks confidence.
