Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out' or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
He was seeking affection with a loose body as the collar was easily clasped around his neck. He remained loose while greeting several dogs through the play yard fence. He was social with the other dogs upon entering the yard, approaching them all and exchanging good greetings. He then spent a few minutes calmly roaming the yard with a female pit bull and obnoxious male pit bull. He was enticed to play by the female pit bull, tapping his feet in retum and play bowing, but he stopped there and walked away. He resumed exploring and came upon another female. He became sexually motivated and tued mounting her. She spun around and snapped in his face, giving him an appropnate waming. He respected the waming and walked away. He solicited affection from the handlers on numerous occasions with a loose body. He did not display any full play style but did appear playful on a few occasions by play bowing and tapping his feet. He did have a personal issue with a large, intact male mastiff who came in the yard. He approached the mastiff with a tense body and froze. He then began growing in the face of the mastiff. The mastiff did not respond as the handler grabbed his leash and backed A5783702 away.
