Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
He was relaxed with an open mouth pant as the runner easily clasped the collar around his neck. He was not interested in greeting any dogs through the fence. He calmly entered the yard and spent a few minutes exploring, keeping to himself. He exchanged good greetings with calm dogs that came up to him but was avoidant of playful dogs. He would create space from them, not interested in play. He was also not comfortable with any dog lingering in his face and would either tum away or expose his teeth before tuming away. He never escalated his wamings. He began approaching the handlers and seeking affection. Once he did, he shadowed them and lingered near them for a long time. He used the handlers as a baner when he wasn't receiving affection. He did relax as time passed and was more tolerant of calm dogs coming up and lingering He would still offer wamings to any playful dog that approached. He needs further socialization BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ), LOW ENERGY
