Eval Comments:
- \"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen, but he was head shy and needs a go-slow approach. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a male Pitbull and tolerated him sniffing him, but he was timid.
He then began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. After a short time, he began te approach the other dogs and exchange soft greetings. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He was wary of the handlers' movements in the yard and needed a go-slow approach. He would flinch and lower his body at certain movements near him. Rex displayed social behavior with the other dogs, but she is timid and would likely do best with a calmer dog. See handling assessment for further stipulations.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. He did not approach the handler. The handler slowly approached him. He allowed the handler to pet his head, but he was head shy. He allowed the handler to check his teeth, but he had wide eves. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. When the handler touched his front paws, he had wide eyes. When the handler touched his tail or back paws, he would sit down, look back and lick his lips. He was retumed to is kennel without issue. He is very timid and needs a go-slow approach. He flinches and is wary of faster movements. Due to this and his handling sensitivities, he will need an adult only home.
