Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.
She was relaxed with soft eyes while the runner easily clasped the collar around her neck. She entered the yard and was not interested in engaging any other dog. She explored the perimeter, seeming to be anxious as she quickly looked around and at the top of the fence. She was tolerant of some dogs trailing next to her but did not stop to greet them. After a few minutes of looking for an exit, she began approaching the handlers to solicit affection. She resumed exploring, tolerating dogs coming up to sniff her body but was not comfortable with them lingering near her muzzle. She was enticed for play on a few occasions but was never interested in play. She was never comfortable around the other dogs but tolerated them. As a few became playful, she became very wary and began looking for an exit. She jumped up on the fence, almost reaching the top.
She was removed from the yard at this time to prevent her from escaping. She needs further socialization. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REC), LOW ENERGY
