EVALUATION COMMENTS:
'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Scar A5794274 greeted the runner with a relaxed demeanor, he was easy to remove, and he moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when he was introduced to the dogs his body was tense, he barked, growled, bit, and tugged on the fence, his pupils were dilated, his body was tense and his ears were alert. The dogs were moved away, he settled and began to whine. He entered the yard, the handler held the leash, he tensed up, growled and jumped on Emerald. He was removed and allowed back on a muzzle. He remained tense, he muzzle punched the dogs when the dogs jumped on the handlers (soliciting affection from them). He chased one of the dogs who ran loosely around the yard. He was eventually removed to not overwhelm the dogs no further. Scar was defensive of the dogs and does not have a playstyle at this time. Behaviorally ok for public adoption, no large dogs required with a KHOA for animal aggression.
