'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change
based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'
Rosie greeted the runner with neutral body while sniffing and licking the runner's hand . She was easy to leash and remove
from the kennel, walked nicely on leash while bypassing the other kennels with a slightly tense body, and was easy to collar.
In the catch pen, her body was slightly tense. She had to be walked into the yard by the runner. She bypassed the other dogs
without greeting them. When the dogs approached her, her body was tense, her back was hunched, and her tail was tucked.
She bared her teeth, growled softly, and moved away from the other dogs on her own. She nervously roamed the yard,
keeping her distance from the other dogs. She solicited petting from the handlers, but would immediately move away if
another dog approached. Rosie is slightly defensive with the other dogs, has a low energy level, and does not have a
playstyle at this time.
