Eval Comments: \"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He gave a show of teeth to the dogs through the fence. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a female Pitbull. He became tense and gave a show of teeth warning. The female Pitbull respected this and walked away. He began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He quickly began to relax and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He received an air snap waming for space from a female shepherd and respected this, having no negative reaction back. He also received the same from a male shepherd puppy and respected this, having no negative reaction back. He remained social with the other dogs for the rest of his time in the yard. He also received a harsh over correction from a male shepherd puppy and had no negative reaction back to this. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He did try to mount a female Pitbull a few times, but he was easily steered by the handlers. He would approach the handlers and allow them to pet him without issue. He displayed no negative behavior toward handlers during his time in the yard. Snowy is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time. See handling assessment for further stipulations.

He was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. He approached with soft body language and began to seek affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift his back paws with no reaction. When the handler touched his front paws, he applied downward pressure to prevent them being picked up. When the handler touched his tail, he looked back and closed his mouth. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. Due to some mild handling sensitivities and the incident in the previous home, he would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
