\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\"
He was easily collard by the runner in the catch pen. He became barrier reactive toward the dogs through the fence, growling at them. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He immediately approached a male shepherd with hackles raised, tense forward body posture and a high stiff tail. He then growled and lunged at him, attemptingto bite. A handler was able to pull him away by his leash and prevent him making full contact with the other dog. The male shepherd was removed from the yard temporarily, to check Shadows behavior with a female dog He approached a female Pointer and began to sniff her from behind. He the re-approached her form the front and stood in front of her. He froze with hackles raised, tense forward body posture, high stiff tail and licking his lips. He then attempted to lunged toward her, but a handler pulled him away by his leash and he was removed from the yard. Due to his unprovoked offensive behavior displayed in the play yard and having to be separated from the dog he came in with, due to attacking him in the kennel, Shadow will need to be the only dog in the home.
