EVALUATION COMMENTS:
'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She bypassed the other dogs and began to explore the yard. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She was approached by a female Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with her. She continued to roam the yard and explore, exchanging soft greetings when dogs approached her. She remained social for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. Annie is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog.
