EVALUATION COMMENTS:
'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a male Akita mix and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He tolerated him playfully pawing at him and jumping on him with his front paws, trying to entice play. He offered no corrections to this, but he declined the invitations to play at this time. He began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. After a little time, he engaged in gentle/dainty play with a female Pitbull. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard, engaging in occasional periods of play. He can be vocal in his play at times, giving play growls. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. He also climbed into the pool a couple of times and enjoyed time playing in there. Rayven is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style.
