A5011923 Franklin is an adorable 1-year-old red-and-tan male Chihuahua/Basenji mix puppy who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on November 14th as a stray from Duarte. 10-lb Franklin is very frightened at the shelter, but he's as sweet as can be. He needs to be approached gently--his first impulse is to hide and watch his kennel mates to see if it's safe--but he quickly warms up and wants to be held and snuggled. Once he relaxes in your arms, he is curious and affectionate. We couldn't evaluate Franklin's leash skills, because he was too overwhelmed to walk on leash. This cute little pup has wonderful auburn coloring and wide eyes. With time and puppy training, Franklin will make a wonderful indoor pet for anyone--and we think, given the way he looks to other dogs for leadership, he'd be a great companion for another dog.
