About kahlua: My name is KAHLUA and I'm approximately 1 years old male germ shepherd. I have been at the Lancaster Animal Care Center since April 2, 2025. The handler knelt at the kennel gate and began to verbally coax him, but he did not approach. When the runner opened the kennel gate, he remained laying down and allowed the runner to loop leash him. Once the leash was on, he then stood up and exited the kennel willingly. He walked to the play yard with no pull on the leash. He entered the catch pen with soft eyes and a low tail. He was avoidant of the play yard fence and did not greet the other dogs. He was easily collared by the runner. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a male cattle dog. He was tolerant of him sniffing him, but had concemed eyes and did not retum the greeting. He remained tolerant of him lingering near his face and offered no corrections or wamings for space. He then tumed and walked away to create his own space. He began to calmly roam the yard and explore his surroundings. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to roam the yard and began to exchange some soft greetings with the calm dogs. He was approached by a male cattle dog that mounted him. He offered no corrections to this and the handlers corrected the cattle dog for him using a spray bottle. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard but appeared more comfortable around the calm dogs. With a go-slow approach, he would approach handlers to seek affection. Kahlua is social with the other dogs but would do best with a calm dog. He was given a moment to acclimate to his surroundings. The handler knelt and called to him. He approached the handler with soft eyes and low tail. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift his front paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail and back paws but had concemed eyes. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling, but he is timid in nature. He does best with a go-slow approach and will be designated as adults only recommended
