INCIDENT IN PG YARD
DOWNEY
A5689151
Walton Goggins was brought out to the play yard for further socialization and enrichment . Walton had primarily been
spending time on his own, with the handlers, or on his own. Walton was sitting by the handler allowing them to pet him. The
handler stepped away and Walton remained by the table. A few moments later a male dog approached Walton and began to
challenge him. Walton appeared uncomfortable but didn?t react. The other dog moved behind Walton and mounted him. The
handler approached but before they could steer them Walton gave a correction, and the other dog initiated a scuffle. He
managed to briefly latch onto Waltons scruff. When the handler attempted to steer the other dog using the shake can Walton
was throwing wild bites while under duress. He managed to puncture the shake can but did not connect with staff. Once they
were separated Walton was given time to recover before being sent to medical for minor injuries. He was allowed to
decompress afterward before being returned to his kennel. Waltons recommendations will remain unchanged. Walton
Goggins is recommended to be made available to rescue only calm dogs recommended.

1ST ATTEMPT
DOWNEY
A5689151
Gregorio A5689151 was laying down when the runner approached his kennel, he got up when he noticed him, his body
tensed up, he growled and would not approach the runner. He was avoidant, his body was to the side, and he growled. He
flinched when the runner attempted to leash him. After a few attempts, the runner was able to place the leash on him. He
walked out of the kennel on his own and moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when he was introduced to the dogs his
body was tense, his pupils were dilated, his mouth was closed, and his tail was high and stiff. The runner asked the handler
to hold the leash (so he could safely collar and leash him). As soon as the handler came near the door, he began to growl, he
focused on her, his body was tense and forward and he lunged and hit the door with his muzzle while attempting to bite. He
was extremely focused on the handler that the runner no longer felt safe to collar and leash him. He was taken back to his
kennel.

A5689151/WALTON GOGGINS'S Behavior Assessments
Walton Goggins was at the rear of the kennel with a tense demeanor as the runner approached. Walton displayed a tense
body, closed mouth emitting a deep growl, ears back, a tucked tail, and a hard stare. The runner called Walton over to him
and he began to growl then lunged forward barking and flashing his teeth. He got close enough to hit the barrier with his
muzzle but when the runner remained in place and continued to use verbal coaxing. Walton then retreated to the rear of the
kennel and sat down with a tense trembling demeanor. The runner opened the kennel door and presented his leash, and
Walton began to growl and flash teeth. The runner was able to toss the leash loop onto Walton and he required some coaxing
to exit the kennel. Walton Goggins walked beside the runner with a low hunched body appearing wary of the runner and the
environment. He was resistant to enter the catch pen requiring some guidance and light leash pressure. Walton appeared
wary of the runner side eyeing him and lip curling with each collaring attempt. The runner placed Walton in a rope muzzle
and was able to collar, leash, and place a basket muzzle onto him without incident. Walton greeted the dogs at the barrier
with a neutral demeanor and was allowed into the play yard. Walton initially greeted the dogs nicely and with his tail giving
a loose wag. He continued to socialize and explore the play yard with a relaxed demeanor. As he explored, he was
challenged by one of the males in the play yard. The other dog initiated a scuffle, and they were able to be separated by the
handlers without incident. Walton moved to the rear of the play yard and laid down no longer socializing with the other
dogs. He was approached by two helper dogs, and they attempted to play with him, but he didn?t reciprocate, and they
moved on. One of the handlers approached Walton and knelt beside him. After a few moments Walton approached and sat
beside them allowing the handler to pet him. Walton became loose and wiggly soliciting further petting from them. Walton
went belly up allowing belly rubs maintaining a loose wiggly demeanor. Walton began to explore again and continued to
socialize with the other dogs, eventually starting to play near the end of the play session. He participated in brief play chase
maintaining a relaxed demeanor. Walton Goggins would benefit from continued socialization and confidence building. See
additional assessment for placement recommendations.

HANDLING ASSESSMENT
DOWNEY
A5689151
Walton was in the play yard prior to the assessment and was still wearing a muzzle as a precaution. Walton displayed a
relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, a loose tail wag, and soft eyes. Walton approached the handler when they
knelt soliciting petting from them. Walton was receptive of petting leaning into the handlers touch. The handler was able to
examine Waltons ears, mouth, and front paws without issue. The handler proceeded to palpate Waltons abdomen, back, hind
legs, and tail without issue. Walton maintained a relaxed demeanor throughout the assessment and continued to solicit
petting afterward. Walton is initially very wary of people and appears to be unsocialized. He would benefit from a slow
introduction continued socialization and confidence building. Walton Goggins is recommended to be made available to
rescue only calm dogs recommended.
