Meet Helen ? A Gentle Soul in Need of Love 🐾
Helen?s story is heartbreaking
She was abandoned by her previous owner, left behind and unsure of where to turn.
Now, this shy and sensitive Doberman is trying to find a new beginning with someone who will never give up on her. 💔
Helen is a quiet girl who shuts down easily in stressful situations.
She prefers calm voices, slow movements, and soft affection.
When approached, she may retreat or freeze, but she allows gentle petting and never shows aggression ? just fear and uncertainty. 💗
**Sweet Helen is a shy and sensitive girl who?s had a tough time adjusting to the shelter environment.**💔
🩷She prefers quiet corners and soft voices, and she?s looking for someone who can
offer her the patience and understanding she needs to come out of her shell.
When approached:
**Helen may shut down or retreat, unsure of her surroundings.**🩶
**She trembles when touched but never shows aggression ? just a gentle, scared pup trying to stay safe.**💔
Once she knows you're kind, she allows petting and handling, though she remains cautious. 💗
She finds interactions with other dogs very stressful, often growling or trying to escape.
She?s not ready for canine companions and must be the only dog in the home. 🐾
🦴Helen has not shown interest in food or treats 🍽️ and is being monitored to ensure she's getting what she needs. 🦴
She?s currently on medications but may not be taking them reliably yet.

ASSESSMENT
DOWNEY
A5695019
Helen A5695019 was laying down when the runner approached her kennel, she noticed the runner and she retrieved to the
back of the kennel, her body was tense, her pupils were dilated, her ears were back, her tail was tucked and her mouth was
closed, The runner opened the kennel door, Helen anxiously paced back and forth, when she attempted to leash her, she
began to defecate and she growled at the runner. The runner gently tossed the leash a few times, Helen dodged it. The runner
stepped in to leash her, once on leash, she flailed, she alligator rolled then ran out of the kennel and strongly pulled away
from the handler. In the catch pen she completely shut down, she laid down on the ground and faced the opposite direction
of the dogs. She was easy to collar and leash. She entered the yard and ran away from the dogs. She ran under the table,
when one of the dogs approached her, she bit him on the face (no injury). She growled at the dogs and snapped at them. She
ran away from them and tried to keep her distance. When any of the dogs played nearby her, she would growl and chase
them. The handler moved her to the side yard to have some alone time. She hid under the bench. Overall, Helen was
defensive of the dogs and does not have a playstyle at this time.
