He would not approach the runner, and he had to step inside the kennel. He dodged it several times with a tucked tail and concemed eyes. He pressed his body into the comer but tolerated the leash being placed on him. He would not walk on leash, causing the runner to cany him without issue to the catch pen. He was wary of the runner, sitting in the comer as the collar was presented. The runner spent a few moments reassurng him and slowly approached him. Max remained wary of the runner but tolerated the collar being clasped around his neck. He was not interested in greeting any dogs through the fence. He entered the yard and kept to himself as he sat against a perimeter fence. He tolerated several dogs coming up to sniff his body but was not comfortable with them lingering near his muzzle and would briefly flash his teeth and scoot away. A handler was able to coax him to approach and he licked and sniffed his hand. After several minutes he relaxed with the handler and was readily approaching him for affection. He was still wary of the dogs but as time passed he began to relax. He started engaging them with a loose body and soft eyes. He suddenly became playful with a male pit bull. He play bowed and stomped his feet. Full play did not erupt at this time. It took the pit bull several more attempts to get Max to finally build enough confidence to start playing. He liked to be chased at first, bnetly stopping once the pit bull caught up to him. Eventually his play tumed to almost a rough/rowdy play style as the two pawed at each other and chest bumped each other while chasing. Max eventually jumped into the pool and splashed around. He and the pit bull chased around the yard and would jump in and out of the pool as they played together. Max needs more socialization as well as leash training as he would not walk on leash and hadto be camed back. Once he realized he was in a safe environment, he became playful and social as well as soliciting affection from the handlers with a wiggly body. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, LARGE DOGS OK, MEDIUM ENERGY #680
