Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on suroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. He walked to the play yard with a light pull He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a female Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He was then approached by a male Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to calmly roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not join in or entice any play. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. Giovanni is social with the other dogs, but he did not display a play style at this time.
