\"The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" He would not walk to the play yard, but he remained tolerant of the runner picking him up and camying him to the yard. He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a female Cattle dogmix and remained tolerant of her sniffing him from behind. He was approached by a male Doberman and was tolerant of him sniffing him, but he had concered eyes. He began to calmly roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He began to relax more and began to exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calm dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not join in or entice any play. He would approach the handlers to seek affection. He is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calmer dog.
