Eval Comments: The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. He walked with a light pull on the leash to the catch pen. He was given a few moments to explore the yard. The handler knelt and coaxed him over. He approached slowly and wary of the handler. He had concemed eyes and ears back. He sniffed the handler's hand and let her scratch under his chin. She moved to the top of his head, and he started licking his lips. He allowed the handler to check his teeth but pulled his head back and backed up away from the handler with concemed eyes. He allowed the handlers to chick his ear but started licking his lips. The handler ran a hand down his back and held his tail He pulled his tail away, sat down with concemed eyes and licking his lips. The handler went to lift his front paw. He pulled his paw away, tumed his head toward the handler's hand with a lip curl. When the handler tried to pick up his back paw, He pulled it away, spun around and snapped towards the handler shand. After his assessment he created space away from the handler. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. Due to his handling sensitivities, he will be designated as rescue only. RESCUE ONLY
